This level II weekend training is intended as a continuation for those students who have taken the Foundations of Kirtan course or those who already have some kirtan experience and want to take their playing and leadership to the next level. In this course you will learn new mantra music to develop your harmonium and kartal playing. Together we will go deeper into an understanding of music theory, have opportunities to lead kirtan, and learn about the philosophy and approach to this practice. This training will not only enhance your musical ability but also give you more confidence to sing and share the practice of kirtan with others. Additionally, you will get to connect with spiritual community in an uplifting and inspiring group learning environment.
As a prerequisite, we ask that you have a fundamental understanding of how to play the harmonium, how to identify the western notes names on the keyboard (A, B, C, etc.), and can already play a few simple chants.
It is recommended that you bring your own harmonium and kartals to this training. We are able to provide some instruments if you are unable to bring yours.
