If you have any questions about the mentorship program, please email us at maryallison@bhakticenter.org.
Mentoring will include everything from commanding attention of a room to building a better playlist, giving real yogic wisdom to giving better hands-on-adjustments.
Over the course of 4 months, you will study with, assist, and learn from one of our three Senior Teachers. To take the position of a teacher and guide requires great skill and knowledge. To attain a deeper knowledge the student must learn how to ask a well-crafted question. Through the mentorship program the yogi will learn how to refine their questions and observations which will in turn help them become an expert teacher.
“The evolution of inquiry precedes the evolution of knowledge” – Jaya Jagannath das

She has been assisting Yogi Charu and teaching in over 30 yoga and meditation teacher trainings. Brinda was initiated into the Brahma Madhava Gaudiya Sampradaya as a disciple of HH Radhanath Swami.
With over 2,000 training hours, Brinda’s teaching style is very nourishing, grounding and uplifting with a focus on breathing and the relationship with Self. As a senior lead teacher at the Bhakti Center, she offers different styles of yoga classes, workshops, and trainings both one on one and in group settings. Her style includes Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Prana Nidra, Pranayama, Prana Vidya Healing, Chakra Meditation and other yoga and meditation techniques. Brinda also leads local and international retreats and offers Ayurveda self-care treatment and consultation.
Jamuna Jaya Devi Dasi is a 500-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher who, after the first five minutes of her first yoga class, distinctly remembers thinking, “Oh, I soooooooooooo get this yoga stuff!” As a former professional dancer, and a life-long spiritual seeker, the synthesis of movement and contemplation on The Divine Spirit spoke to her immediately! She took her 200-hour YTT with Carrie Parker and Jillian Pransky’s Bright Spirit Teacher Training in NJ, and was lucky enough to join the apprentice program, and eventually staff at Devotion Yoga in Hoboken, NJ.
During her 300-Hour Advanced Teacher Training at Yogamaya, under Stacey Brass Russell and Bryn Chrisman, she found the path of Bhakti, and became an initiated student of HH Dhanudhara Swami. She loves combining precise alignment, and spiritual focus to give a complete experience of yoga. Currently, she teaches at The Bhakti Center, Yogamaya, for the online training Yoga Renew, as well as guest teaching at studios like StoneWave Yoga and Three Birds.
When not on her mat, Jamuna performs as a clown in hospitals for children for Healthy Humor, as her “alter ego” Dr. Ima Confused, and is a professional storyteller bringing folktales to audiences of all ages everywhere from schools, libraries, and even prisons.
Chelsea (500-hr RYT) studied vinyasa and hatha yoga in Rishikesh, India – completing her 200 hr-RYT in 2016. She continued her studies in prenatal yoga through Lovechild Yoga, now teaching prenatal yoga private classes through Savi Yoga. She furthered her studies in slow flow, Āyurveda, and restorative yoga with Prema Yoga Insitute in NYC. Chelsea regularly shares the practices of Yoga with children in schools through a trauma-informed lens.
Chelsea’s style emphasizes a moving meditation by linking breath to movement to calm the chatter of the mind. This breath-body-mind connection will bring you out of the hustle and bustle of the city and take you further inward throughout class. Her thoughtful sequencing is ever changing depending on the season and your needs. Expect every class to be rooted in intelligent sequencing for anatomy, many options to be given along the way, and pranayama practices (breathing techniques) and devotional mantra to be shared. You’ll leave feeling restored yet energized. Beginner friendly.
