Hands-On Adjustment
Immersion
The art of giving a beneficial hands-on-adjustment is delicate. When you adjust someone you enter into their space to quite literally help them find a fuller expression of the yoga pose in their body. This requires trust, skill, a good understanding of alignment, and personal nuance.
Over 5 hours we will dive into many different modalities of yoga and movement to help us learn about alignment, form, function, range, sustainability, longevity, directionality and more. We will debunk notions such as “you have to be flexible to do yoga” by understanding how the body folds and unfolds into itself. The physical structure, when plugged into a strong foundation, can help us achieve new perspectives and reach profound depths not only in our asana practice but in our whole lives.
Once we learn how to build a strong foundation for ourselves then we are prepared to share that knowledge with others. We will practice giving and receiving hands on adjustments in various different types of yoga poses. We will learn the do’s and don’ts of hands on adjustments and also discuss topics such as injury prevention, working with students who have injuries, and healing the body through adjustments.
Hands-on-adjustments are an invaluable tool in the belt of the yoga teacher. A good adjustment has the power to create both physical and energetic space in the body of the practitioner. Where there is space and capacity, there is possibility to reach new heights both on and off the mat.
