Traditionally in yoga, at the change of seasons 108 Sun Salutations are performed to cleanse the body and mind and reset for the new energy coming upon us.

We will also discuss the particular energy of fall and how we can align ourselves with the natural flow of the season. It’s fun, it’s challenging, and it’s a great way to start off the season on the right foot! Here’s to new beginnings!

Paramananda has been traversing the path of yoga for over 25 years. His journey towards higher consciousness started out early in life as a punk guitarist from the hardcore scene of New York City, where he spent his youth playing blaring rebel anthems in popular bands such as Youth of Today, Judge and Shelter, championing a straight edge lifestyle, vegetarianism and a positive mental attitude. During that time, he also became interested in eastern spirituality, moving into ashrams to intensely study yoga, meditation and Vedic philosophy. He also made yearly pilgrimages to India, learning to live the life of a yogi from the culture where it all came from.

He now teaches yoga from the Krishna Bhakti tradition (the yoga of devotion). His challenging, fun-filled classes are mixed with vinyasa (movement), pranayama (deep breathing), core strengthening, arm balances and inversions. He also infuses his classes with kirtan (singing of sacred mantras) and storytelling from India’s ancient wisdom literature. This yoga practice is a truly holistic, transformational experience, uplifting not only the body but the mind and spirit as well.
