Rukmini Walker met her guru, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, at the age of 16 and began a lifelong study in Bhakti-yoga under his guidance. Today she is an activist in interfaith dialogue and women’s spiritual empowerment, an artist, and a successful entrepreneur. Her business, As Kindred Spirits aims to connect the finest American designers with charitable and fair trade ventures. The beloved kirtan artist, Gaura Vani, is her son. She lives with her husband in the Washington, DC metro area.

Lucero (Lucy) Ocampo has been a yoga instructor since 2011. The profound wisdom of the path of Bhakti Yoga allowed her to transform her life into one of compassion, growth, and service.

To her Hatha and Restorative yoga classes she brings an extensive knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, as well as an emphasis on applying yogic principles to the healing of trauma, chronic stress, and addictions. She also incorporates her training in Sound Healing and Shamanic modalities to the process.

She is currently working on a social initiative that will make the ancient teachings of Bhakti Yoga accessible to our current time and place, so that it can transform the lives of others, much like it did her own.

Julie Pasqual is honored, humbled, and inspired to teach at the Bhakti Center. She is a 500 RYT, having received her 200 hour certification from Devotion Yoga with Jillian Pransky and Carrie Parker, and her 300 hour from Yogamaya with Stacey Brass and Bryn Chrisman.

In her classes Julie strives to, as the great yoga master BKS Iyengar said, “Stretch the intelligence throughout the body”, so that ultimately, the students can connect to the deep well of love and compassion that lies in each of us.

Komala Kumari has been learning Bharatanatyam since the age of three. For the past twelve years, she has received years of rigorous training in Chennai, South India under her Guru, Srimati Indira Kadambi. Kumari has performed across the US, Mexico, Canada, and India and on Broadway. Kumari is the 2016 grand prize recipient from the international Cleveland Tyagaraja Bharatanatyam Competition. Kumari dances because it is not only her passion, but it is her expression of devotion and a profound spiritual offering.

Rukmini Poddar grew up in the quaint town of Alachua, Florida. Her childhood obsession with coding Neopets pet pages eventually led her to receive her BFA in graphic design from the University of Florida. Her work is best described as both approachable and refined. Her greatest influences come from investigating her Indian heritage.
