cancellation policy

  • There will be no refunds or discounts for arriving late, leaving early, flight cancellations, travel delays or illness.

If you cancel your reservation:

  • 61 days or more prior to the start of the retreat, you receive 50% of the money you have put down after the deposit (the deposit is non-refundable).
  • 31-60 days prior to the start of the retreat, you receive: 20% of the money you have put down after the deposit (the deposit is non-refundable).
  • 0-30 days prior to the start of the yoga retreat, no refunds are given.
  • To cancel, you must send an email stating that you wish to do so to Erin at erin@bhakticenter.org.

Join long-time Bhakti Yoga Practitioners for an exclusive women’s retreat in the Tropical Jungles and Beaches of Costa Rica. Participants will enjoy 6 days at Sonora Jungle and Yoga Retreat Center, a cozy stylish boutique hotel in the tropical jungle on the southern Caribbean Coast of Lush Costa Rica. Included in the retreat cost are two nights in an upscale urban art conclave hotel in San Jose, airport and retreat transportation, and daily meals at the retreat center.

Wake each morning to the sounds of the jungle and begin your day with meditation, Japa, and yoga at the open-air yoga shala. After a nourishing vegetarian breakfast come together for classes designed to expand your authentic inner voice using the spiritual practices of Bhakti Yoga, sessions include, Kirtan, art therapy, guided meditation, dance, Ayurveda, plant meditation, and daily spiritual discussion circles. Participants are encouraged to engage, question and explore their personal connection to Bhakti Yoga.

Please note there is a non-refundable deposit required to hold your spot for the Urban Devi Retreat. By paying the $500 deposit, you know that you are holding your spot for our 2023 Costa Rica retreat, that it is non-refundable, and that a second payment of $1,000 will be due in February 2023. The remaining balance is due in March 2023. You will be sent a retreat policies document to review and sign once your deposit is made.

Rukmini Walker is an activist in women’s spiritual empowerment and interfaith dialogue. She is the founder of the Urban Devi collective (urbandevi.com), based out of Bhakti Center (bhakticenter.org) in New York City, where she is a member of the board of trustees. Rukmini has been traversing the path of Bhakti for most of her life, living in India, Canada and the US as one of the first disciples of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who first brought the path of Bhakti to the West in 1965. Rukmini sees the world animated by spirit and practices an eco-Bhakti seeing truth and beauty in nature and in the world as kindred spirits.

Ashley Elenbaas, M.Sc., RH(AHG), has spent her life exploring the intersection of nature and spirituality. She began her studies in environmental science in 1997 at UNC Asheville while gaining a certificate in teaching yoga. Her love of nature and culture led her to study medicine, anthropology, organic farming, and botany in Australia, Costa Rica, and Maryland and in 2008 she received her M.Sc. in Clinical Herbal Medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Studies. Since this time Ashley has taught at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), George Washington University, and started her own yoga and herbal school blending these sister sciences and philosophies. Ashley lives in Minnesota with her husband, two bright daughters, and tends a community garden where she blends spirituality and nature-based wisdom.

Sarah Kuretzky Rossington Counselor, MA, MEd, LLC, SCL, CHHC, CIHMP, Sarah Kuretzky has always been a seeker of spirituality and the mind. She is an educator and licensed mental health counselor specializing in individual and couples therapy. Sarah has extensive experience and training working with adolescents and adults with disordered eating, substance use, women’s health issues, self-esteem, depression/anxiety, grief and loss, and life transitions. Her approach is focused on listening first, and then on helping her clients through art therapy, adventure-based therapy, CBT, DBT, and Trauma Informed Therapy so that they can live fuller, happier lives. Sarah lives in Michigan with her 3 children and is currently working full-time in private practice. 

Kylie Brown is a perennial student of Bhakti Yoga and has a deep reverence for kirtan. Having experienced the transformative power of communal sacred sound from the age of 13, she began to study voice and musical theatre. In 2007, she was fortunate enough to start following the Bhakti path. In 2017, she received her 500-hour yoga teacher training in India, and she is also a certified massage therapist. After two decades of performing and touring with various theaters, choirs, and the occasional voice-over, Kylie has been joyfully directing her efforts towards sharing kirtan and serving in her local sangha in Atlanta, Ga. She currently teaches yoga, and co-hosts retreats with her husband in North Carolina.
