Like an advanced yoga practice, an advanced asana is not always apparent to the eye.  A gymnast, or a ballet dancer can walk into a yoga class, and literally do every pose – but does that make them an advanced practitioner?  Without the knowledge of the breath, and the subtle body, and indeed the actual role that asana plays in the yoga system, poses can become, to quote the great teacher in the Bhakti Yoga line, AC Bhatkivendanta Swami Prabupada, “nothing more than physical gymnastics” –  a performance of Ciruque Du Soleil in a studio.

In this training we will look at asanas, that yes, are physically demanding, but we will look at them with eyes that go beyond the view of an Instagram worthy photo.  We will explore deeply the various actions that go into working towards these postures, for it is often the amount of actions that have to happen simultaneously that make a posture more advanced.  We will look at how to make the poses more accessible to the greatest number of students – looking at props and regressions of the asana, and we will dive deeply into how to sequence a class that builds towards these complicated shapes, and also allows for a counter action for them.

Provided that you have completed all assignments, upon graduation, you will receive a 50 hour yoga teacher training certificate that you can apply towards our 300 hour yoga teacher training program and have the option to register as a RYT 300 via Yoga Alliance.

You can find the schedule of our upcoming 300 hour yoga teacher training modules here.
