There is a power in touch.  There are studies showing that babies that are not held experience what is called “failure to thrive”, and do not develop like other children.  During the global pandemic many of us were devoid of any type of in person contact, much less in person yoga. The need to educate teachers about how, when and why to give hands on assists are of upmost importance.

      In this training we will:

  • discuss our feelings about hands-on assists – now, and what they might have been prior to Covid (if the teacher was teaching then);
  • discuss best practices in ensuring that permission is asked about hands on;
  • look at populations and teaching scenarios where giving hands on might be challenging, or triggering;
  • setting guidelines for what part of the body is NOT to be touched, and the line that has to be walked when assisting someone of the opposite gender;
  • learning how to protect one’s own body when giving assists;
  • learning and practicing hands on assists that help better align a student’s body, stabilize a student in a pose, deepened a student’s experience in a pose.

Provided that you have completed all assignments, upon graduation, you will receive a 50 hour yoga teacher training certificate that you can apply towards our 300 hour yoga teacher training program and have the option to register as a RYT 300 via Yoga Alliance.

You can find the schedule of our upcoming 300 hour yoga teacher training modules here.
