Prayer, known as ‘vandanam’, is one of the nine most important practices of bhakti. Her Grace Rukmini Devi, a long-time bhakti-yoga practitioner, will guide us through two sessions exploring the role of prayer in bhakti and how to commune with the Divine.

One of the nine most important practices of bhakti is vandanam, prayer. What is the role of prayer in the practice of bhakti, and how do we pray? Her Grace Rukmini Devi, a direct disciple of Srila Prabhupdada with almost sixty years of experience in bhakti-yoga, will lead us in a journey into this sacred universal practice of communing with the Divine through the art of prayer.

Rukmini Walker is an activist in women’s spiritual empowerment and interfaith dialogue. She is the founder of the Urban Devi collective (urbandevi.com), based out of Bhakti Center (bhakticenter.org) in New York City, where she is a member of the board of trustees. Rukmini has been traversing the path of Bhakti for most of her life, living in India, Canada and the US as one of the first disciples of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who first brought the path of Bhakti to the West in 1965. Rukmini sees the world animated by spirit and practices an eco-Bhakti seeing truth and beauty in nature and in the world as kindred spirits.
