OUR EVENTS
The “Event Series” is a central component of our program, offering activities that promote plant-based food, food justice, and vegan education.
Screenings include thought-provoking films related to plant-based living, animal welfare, and sustainability, fostering awareness and discussions. Organized in collaboration between the Bhakti Center, Chilis on Wheels and Vegan Activist Alliance, leveraging expertise and resources for informative experiences.
“Dinner & a Movie” event, featuring the film “The Smell of Money” followed by a plant-based dinner and Q&A with writer Jamie Berger.
An activist educational gathering in partnership with Mercy for Animals was also successful, raising awareness of food systems, the importance of recognizing how oppressions are interconnected, and institutional change
The “Dinner & Discussion” series, featuring international activist Seb Alex during Earth Week, sparked meaningful conversations about animal lives and humanity’s relationship with nature. It offered thought-provoking discussions, deepening understanding of our choices’ impact on the environment and the Beings who share this planet with us.
Chilis on Wheels and the Bhakti Center have joined hands since October 2022 to distribute meals in Tompkins Square Park. These meals are prepared by the Bhakti Center and Chilis on Wheels, and they are all plant-based. Along with the meals, Chilis on Wheels also provides vegan literature at all distribution sites, aimed at raising awareness about the impact of food systems on animals, humans, and the environment. This literature also provides information on how to get involved in local and national advocacy efforts.
