Yoga@The Bhakti Center is a program centered around the idea of seva (divine service). We wish to serve the community in the following ways.
Donation Based Yoga Classes – In an effort to keep yoga classes accessible to everyone we have a $5 – $15 sliding donation scale. Those with more financial means may choose to pay the higher donation, and those with less may donate at the lower end of the scale. This will help us all serve to make yoga available to the wider community.
Giving Back – 10% of all proceeds from our yoga classes will go directly to a project very dear to the hearts of many at the Bhakti Center; Vrindavan Food For Life’s Sandipani Muni School in Vrindavan, India. If you give a $10 donation for a yoga class, $1 will go to the Sandipani Muni School. In this way, as a community, we hope to make a substantial contribution to this wonderful project. In the near future we hope to also implement service to our local community on the Lower East Side.
Bringing Yoga Culture to New York City – The Bhakti Center is a nonprofit cultural arts center dedicated to sharing the experience of self-transformation through the culture of Bhakti-yoga. Beyond the 10% allocated to the Sandipani Muni School, proceeds from our yoga program will serve to support the Bhakti Center in it’s unique role in bringing the cultural arts of yoga to New York City. With this goal in mind, many of our yoga teachers have very generously offered to teach their classes as on offering, donating all proceeds to support the center.
