Enter the way of the spiritual warrior – Learn the art of Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate from a monk in the bhakti yoga tradition.

Sensei Murali Gopal is a 5th degree black belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate and a monk from the Bhakti-yoga tradition. In these classes he fuses Japanese martial arts with the wisdom of the Bhakti tradition to help you develop body, mind and soul through physical training, philosophy and mantra meditation. Begin your path of self-realization and enter the way of the spiritual warrior.

Eastern martial arts were originally developed to help a practitioner following a spiritual path to become self-realized. The rigorous training keeps the body, mind and soul balanced, while strengthening the focus, determination, and control of the mind and senses. The philosophy helps the practitioner understand the nature of the self, God, and the workings of the world, and how to practically apply it in everyday life. The mantra meditation cleanses deep within the heart, turns the mind into a friend and helps realize the knowledge.

Shorin-Ryu Karate is the oldest form of Karate. Dating back to the 1600’s, it has roots in the Okinawan fighting styles and China’s Shaolin Kempo.

Bhakti-yoga is a spiritual discipline meant to bring one to a state of pure love of God and a school of philosophical thought based on the devotional interpretation of India’s classical school of Vedanta.

The courses will combine learning the traditional techniques & history of Shorin-Ryu with the rich philosophy of Bhakti-yoga and the application of mantra meditation.

The courses are designed for men only, ages 12 years and up, to:
