One of the Bhakti Center’s premier events. Every Thursday we get together for an unforgettable night of devotional music. Kirtan is a form of mantra music wherein a singer leads and the entire audience responds. Its roots go back centuries in India’s spiritual culture.

ALL LADIES KIRTAN

a kirtan for women, 6:00 – 8:00pm

A monthly gathering for women to raise their voices and hearts together in the setting of The Bhakti Center’s beautiful Radha Krishna Temple.

celebrating the divine appearance of Sri Chaitanya

The Bhakti Center will celebrate the 6th Annual Roots of Kiran Festival, with talks about understanding Sri Chaitanya’s life, mood and mission as well as insights on the meaning of Kirtan.

MRIDANGA BASICS

A 6-week comprehensive course for beginners

This is a beginners Mridanga workshop.  The course will take place once a week over the span of six weeks, covering fundamentals of hand practice (hasta sadhana) as well as simple kirtan beats.

This introductory course, divided into three parts, aims to familiarize students with some basic concepts of Sanskrit, which will help them in their study of sacred bhakti texts like the Bhagavad-gita and the Bhagavata-purana.

A monthly gathering for helping beginners learn to sing and play instruments, as well as lead kirtan, in a small group setting.

This course primarily aims to familiarize students with some basic principles of Sanskrit grammarand enables them to recite sacred verses (mantras) in different chandas (meters), an ancient practice that seeks to awaken our original spiritual nature through divine sound.

UPSTATE KIRTAN RETREAT

with Doyal Gauranga & Kishor Gopal

An opportunity to take a break into nature and dive deep into kirtan with learning sessions as well as individual time with teachers to hone your skills on harmonium, kartals (brass cymbals), and mrdanga (clay drum), plus seminars on the history and meaning of kirtan as well as how to approach kirtan in a devotional attitude.
